Early Musings Part 1: Summer Days

My dear old mum recently unearthed a book of my adolescent writing aged 9. Most of it amused me, some of it surprised me so I decided to share some of it here.

‘Summer Days’ is a poem I wrote on Wednesday 18th June 1986.

On the beach people sit

Eating ice creams

Under the sun’s great beams

They sit there sipping cold drinks

Some of them blink

At the sun, in the sky

They wear cool clothes

And then start swimming

The sea-gulls are singing

Flowers outside, houses everywhere

People frolic, without a care

Now it’s time, for a fare

People use barbecues

Sunbathing too

People being idle

Under the blue sky.

fuck me – profound……
